Aeron FT 5 contains Montelukast, which blocks leukotriene receptors—chemicals responsible for inflammation and tightening of airways—thereby helping to prevent asthma and relieve allergy symptoms.
Aeron FT 5 is a prescription medication indicated for the prevention of asthma and the treatment of allergic symptoms like sneezing and a runny nose. It functions by reducing airway inflammation, making breathing easier.
Caution is advised when consuming alcohol alongside Aeron FT 5. Consult your healthcare provider for guidance.
Aeron FT 5 is generally safe during pregnancy. Animal studies indicate minimal or no risk to the developing fetus, although human data remains limited.
Likely safe during breastfeeding. Limited human research suggests no significant risk to nursing infants.
Aeron FT 5 may impair mental alertness, cause drowsiness, dizziness, or blurred vision. Refrain from driving or operating heavy machinery if these effects are experienced.
Aeron FT 5 can be used safely in individuals with kidney disease. Dose modification is not necessary.
Aeron FT 5 should be used cautiously in patients with severe liver impairment. Dose adjustment may be required. While data is limited, no dose change is needed in cases of mild to moderate liver dysfunction. Always consult your doctor.
Follow your doctor's prescription regarding dose and duration. Swallow the tablet whole; do not chew, crush, or break it. Take it at a consistent time each day, with or without food.
Asthma & Allergic Rhinitis: 10 mg once daily in the evening
Exercise-Induced Asthma: 10 mg at least 2 hours before exercise; do not repeat within 24 hours
Elderly: No dosage adjustment needed
Liver Impairment (Mild to Moderate): No dose change necessary
12–24 months: 4 mg granules once daily
2–6 years: 4 mg (chewable tablet or granules) once daily
6–15 years: 5 mg chewable tablet once daily
>15 years: 10 mg conventional tablet once daily
For exercise-induced bronchospasm, the dose should be taken 2 hours before activity. Do not take more than one dose in 24 hours.
No dose adjustment required for renal impairment
Montelukast selectively blocks cysteinyl leukotriene receptors in the lungs, which are involved in the inflammatory process and airway constriction in asthma and allergies.
The effect of Aeron FT 5 may be reduced by medications that induce liver enzymes (e.g., phenobarbital, phenytoin, rifampicin), potentially lowering Montelukast levels in the blood.
Known hypersensitivity to Montelukast or any component of the formulation
Avoid alcohol during treatment. Inform your doctor about any liver issues or all other medications you're taking, as interactions may affect how Aeron FT 5 works. Also notify your physician if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Store in cool & dry place below 30°C, protect from light & moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
